We have a knotty alder front door. It is south facing w/ a short overhang which does not do much to protect it. We are replacing it for the 3rd time due to cracks (thank goodness we’re not paying for it). The door is probably sealed with a urethane resin

I made a white oak mantle (stained with Minwax golden oak). A month later built 2 side cabinets out of white oak stained with same can of Minwax. Mantle is a golden shade while the cabinets are not. Any fixes???

Can you help me? I recently purchased new wood front doors. I sanded them, stained them, waited a week, then applied marine spar varnish to the top layer. In application, the varnish took off/bleached much of the stain. The original stain color was red, and it looked beautiful and well-done
