Paint Peeling

share

House was built in 1894 and in one of the bedrooms the paint is peeling off the walls. So I’ve been scraping all off and their is like a blue paint underneath it. What is causing that?

One Response

  1. A hot spot in the plaster most likely.

Visit a local paint dealer, preferably not one of the lumber stores which also happens to sell paint.

Ask their advice as to your remedy. Most will suggest a first coat of shellac followed by an alkyd topcoat or two.
