Yes you can after you sand the semi-gloss down dulling the finish or using a deglosser.
Just make sure you sand down the gloss and use a high quality satin finish <a href="//www.californiapaints.com/InteriorPaint.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">interior paint</a> and you should be fine. I went from semi-gloss to satin in my entryway and it came out great.
