We have a new 26×36 addition. Primer was sprayed on. We sprayed the first coat of ceiling paint by overlapping half of each stroke, but could see the “edges” of each row after it dried. 2nd coat of paint we tried using the paint stick roller (thinking the roller would do a better job). Had WORSE stop and start marks once it dried. 3rd coat and much frustration later…I HAND ROLLED in opposite directions with a different ceiling paint, making sure the final strokes were ALL the same direction. Having to stand on a step-ladder to do this, allows for only a 3-4 foot area at a time being rolled. When we look up and across the ceiling, we can see each and every rolled “section”. We are so frustrated with this NEW ceiling that now has one coat of primer and 3 coats of paint and still looks awful!!! What should we do to get a nicer and more consistent look??? The ceiling is slightly textured.

First… you should never spray primer, always brush and roll it… what kind of primer and finish coat did you use? Use only a Pigmented Shellac Sealer Primer and Sherwin Williams Classic-99 Latex…
You are not applying the paint correctly with the roller and most likely not using proper roller covers… take the time to study these things before starting over…
