Painting Ideas For A Nursery

If you are expecting a baby, you don’t have a lot of time to prepare for the new arrival. There are clothes to buy, supplies needed, and of course, you must have a nursery that is decorated and ready. There are several options you have when it comes to decorating the nursery. You could wallpaper, paint, panel, or drywall the room in order to get the completed nursery look that you wanted. If you want to paint the walls here are some tips.

Make sure that the paint you choose is VOC free. You also want the paint to be washable. It’s important to keep the nursery clean while the baby is small and you want to make cleaning as easy as possible because you are not going to have a lot of time. When your little one gets older, he or she will not only leave little hand prints on the wall but they will also experiment on the walls with a box of crayons, markers, or mommy’s makeup. You want to be able to wash them off as you find the mess. Choose a semi-gloss paint for the nursery walls. They are easy to clean and yet they aren’t going to be too shiny.

Choosing a color is probably going to be the most difficult choice you have to make. Why? Because there are so many different colors and shades of colors to choose from. The traditional pastel pink and blue has given in to some extraordinary colors you may not have chosen before. If you are going with a theme, you can pull out the color that you want on the wall by the border you are going to use or a character you choose. You will want to choose a color that stands out the least. For example, a theme with lots of blue and green with a shade of yellow will be beautiful if you use yellow as your main color. You are pulling out the least color used.

If you plan on leaving this room for your baby as he or she grows up you may want to try keeping with a decor that you can change with minimal effort. For example, you can paint the walls a solid color and accessorize with the theme that you like best or even your theme. There are several different ways to incorporate color in your nursery and you need to consider all the colors you can see in the room before you make a decision.

You want the nursery to be relaxing and calming. It doesn’t need to be bold and loud in color because you want to provide a soft and calm atmosphere. The color you choose will have everything to do with how calm and relaxing the room is going to be.

As long as it looks comfortable to you, it will be comfortable for your little one too. The mother has an instinct that helps determine if it is too hot, too cold, too distracting, or just right so follow that instinct and your nursery will be perfect.
