Cost formula to paint 15X14 bedroom.

How much would it cost to paint a 15X14 bedroom if paint sells for 5.98 and cover 326 feet? Project for school. Must have formula.

  1. Length x Height of each wall = total square feet of each wall. Let's say the ceiling height is 8 feet. You have 2 walls 15 feet long and 2 walls 14 feet long and 8 feet tall.

This will equal 120 square feet per 15 foot wall and 112 square feet per 14 foot wall. Total for 4 walls = 464 square feet. The ceiling equals 15×14 or 210 square feet.

    120+120+112+112 = 464(walls)+210(ceiling) = 674 sq/ft. Divide 674 by 326 = 2 gallons. 2x$5.98=12 dollars.

    Note:
Cheap paint will never cover anything, including itself. At $6 per gallon it is water, clay and a little Elmer's Glue. It will probably take 4 coats at 200 sq/ft per coat. True cost?
