Cracking paint where ceiling and wall meets.

share

We recently moved into a home and the walls were newly painted by the previous homeowner. Over the last few months I have noticed that where the ceiling and the wall meet the paint is cracking and chipping. Could you please give me a reason why this might be happening and what paint is recommended for indoor use?

  1. Hello,
    There can be several reasons:

    – The paint was applied too thick in the corners

    – The cleaning was not done well enough in the corners

    – Or the house has moved a little. When there's construction work done in the neighborhood, or the house is built on not too solid grounds (like here in Amsterdam), there can be considerable forces stressing the house structure.
There's not much you can do about that, and usually the house keeps standing anyway. Only the cracks are a pity.

    Good luck, Evelien
