Diluting oil base primer.

Need to know how to dilute oil base primer to use in a spray gun. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. It depends on the primer, how thick it is, but you can add up to 2 pints per gallon (even more for some primers). You can also use Penetrol to help the primer flow on the surface. Both mineral spirits and Penetrol can be added together to get a good spray pattern.

Make sure to add small amounts at a time and test the spray pattern, then add more if needed.
