I live in hot old Arizona. The metal transition between my AC and the roof needs painting. Is there a paint that I can use to reflect the heat and keep the cooled air cooler, longer?

Absolutely. Check by your local paint dealer and get an appropriate primer for the surface. Also get the proper finish product then follow some simple guidelines.
Do not paint in direct sun. Clean the plenum with a non-soapy cleaner and allow to dry. Prime then paint 2 coats.
Hope you stay cooler. But it's a dry heat.
