I selected a color to use on the exterior shutters of our house. I bought a sample to try out but it was interior paint. I loved the color, so bought the same color in a gallon of exterior paint. When the shutters were painted with a sprayer, the color was a lighter shade than what I selected. We have to dilute the gallon of paint with 1 quart of water for the sprayer. Is it possible that the dilution caused the color pigmentation to change?

1 Quart per gallon? This is WAY TOO MUCH… even if your spray gun says so… perhaps a half pint would be right… your spray gun should be the HVLP type… which will require NO thinning… yes that’s what caused the change in color! For a good spray gun I recommend Wagner Paint Ready Gun… look here: //www.homedepot.com/p/Wagner-HVLP-Paint-Ready-Sprayer-Station-0529017/204218851
