I have light pine cabinets, light wood flooring and black counter tops with hints of red and orange colors. The kitchen is also open to the dining area and I would like to use a different color for that. I need help! I don’t want to make a bad choice.

If this was my kitchen and as described I would go with a hot pepper red in the kitchen, and a light orangish tone in the dining room.
I would suggest a light color like a light yellow or maybe an orange. A light yellow would make the kitchen bright and happy especially if you have natural light coming in. A light orange may sound strange but I have seen kitchens with it and love it. But it would have to contrast with the living room color since its open. I would go with a sunlight yellow.
