Paint peeling off walls in basement?

share

We moved into our home 3 years ago, and was told that the basement was “newly painted”. Over the last year we noticed that there was a little mold on one of the walls which we treated. Now my daughter has moved into the basement and wanted to repaint. Problem is as we paint the undercoat just seems to peel off in clumps, we have sanded the walls and tried to apply an undercoat but it just won’t stick. What can we do?

  1. First have a Painting Contractor inspect the walls to see if you have a leakage or moister problem from the exterior of the walls….

If so then you may need extensive outside excavation repairs…

Otherwise scrape down all of the peeling areas, then apply 2 coats of Dry-Lock Masonry paint… to all walls…

Then if you want to paint over this with another color, use an Acrylic Paint…

    Good Luck!
