Hi, I’d like to paint my floorboards a gloss (high gloss preferably)white. I have already painted them once with a water base paving paint in a satin finish but wasn’t pleased with the shine of the finish. I really don’t want to use an oil based paint. Is it possible to paint them with the paving paint then seal them with a high gloss water based varnish? What’s the best way to go about this project? thanks

Yes, the referenced method is possible. No it is not preferable. Alkyd finishes will provide much more durability than any currently available, easy to apply, acrylic floor finish.
I am concerned as to what you refer as a "paving" paint.
Paving paint is like decking / patio paint – does that help?
