Painting Front Door

share

I have a white siding house with black shutters, grey/black roof and red and white brick trimming the bottom of the covered front porch. I want to paint my front door black, it is mostly lead glass but I have no idea what kind of paint or what tools to use, brushes, sponges etc ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Use a good acrylic paint. Acrylic has better UV stability and will last longer than an oil base. For a good brush choose any of the Purdy brushes designed for water based paints. The Purdy Syntox is a nice soft brush.

Other items, like tools, depends on the condition of the door. If the original finish is in good shape all that is needed is a good cleaning, sanding using 150 grit sandpaper and a good primer. Primers can be tinted to a gray color to help with coverage of the black paint.
