I have cabinets that have been stained and polyurethaned for 37 years…I want to paint them white and have no idea how to begin…
I would like to know the steps to take to get them to look new.
Do I have to strip them? Sand them down?
Then do I use Kilz primer and then paint them?

Do this… first prime them using a Pigmented Shellac Sealer Primer… then repair any holes, cracks, with spackling paste and putty… then caulk all visible cracks… then spot prime any spackled repairs with the Pigmented Shellac Primer… then finish coat with semi-gloss paint… use only a high grade product… recommend Sherwin Williams Classic-99 Latex… then allow the surfaces 14 days for complete curing…
