Painting Over Sateen Finish with a Satin Finish

I am painting my bathroom and the first coat is done. It was recommended that I use a sateen finish and I find it too shiny. I want to switch to satin finish and am wondering about painting that straight over the sateen.

  1. You can paint right over the Behr Sateen finish with an acrylic satin, primer isn't necessary. Choose a paint similar in quality or better to the Behr Premium Plus that you used.

I have noticed some discussion online about this paints sheen being too glossy, more like a semi-gloss. All paints have a cure time, 2-4 weeks, before their true sheen is achieved. It's possible it could tone down a bit in a couple of weeks.
