Painting plumbing pipes.

Can plastic plumbing pipes be painted.
To avoid building a wall in a new basement bathroom, I would like to paint the water lines and vent pipe that run down to the sink and apply a faux finish.

  1. Simply answered, yes. Preferably you would prime and then paint. If priming is not in your plans you will probably get by without it.

As for the finish, as Karl has stated in his articles, the acrylic content is high in most latex finishes which have a sheen. A huge benefit of the acrylic is the excellent adhesion properties. When painting any surface which is subject to expanding and contracting, use a semi-gloss finish for best results.
