Prime only the patch or do I prime the entire ceiling?

share

I have a small area on my ceiling where new dry wall was put, can I just put Kilz on the new dry wall area or do I have to do the whole ceiling?

  1. Prime just the patched area. If the ceiling was previously painted there in no need to prime the whole ceiling. Use Kilz2, this is a water based version and has more body than oil based Kilz. Allow the primer to dry for a couple of hours then paint as usual.
