I used a 1/2 strength primer on new Sheetrock in basement, and now want to use a lighter final color than what we originally chose.. Any problems doing that?

You shouldn't cut primer… use as directed…
Should be fine. Using a primer tinted 1/2 of the final color is a great way to get better coverage.
