I painted the door with Rust-Oleum oil based paint in black. Then after a couple of days, I saw spots I missed and when I painted over them it dried flat not shiny and it looks horrible. What did I do wrong?

The door might have been hot. This is especially true if the door was in the sun when you repainted the spots. Also, touching up a black oil base is tough at best. I suggest you repaint the entire door when is cool to the touch or remove the door from the frame and repaint it in the shade.
