Using clear wax or oil (tung, danish) before finishing?

share

We have interior red/purple cedar wood projects we want to finish with a high gloss coat. Can we use this product called clear wax, or one of these oils on the wood before hand? We are interested in using the oils only if it enhances the color of the wood.

  1. Don't use any wax under a clear finish like poly or varnish. To enhance the wood color you should use a stain or you can use a Danish oil which is a mix of stain, Tung oil and varnish. If a Danish oil is used you will need to apply a coat of gloss varnish to increase the sheen of your projects.

Make sure to test any color, stain or Danish oil, before committing to an entire project.
