I am using yellow pine bead board as a kitchen backsplash, which I intend to paint. I have primed the front, back and “tongue” of the board. I would like to seal the cut ends to protect them from “wicking” water near the sink and possible spills. The primer I am using, Zinsser Bulls Eye 123 Primer, noted that water sealant was a limitation to their product. Can you recommend a product to seal the cut end of these boards?

The Zinnser primer will work fine for this purpose. For a better seal top coat the primer with your finish paint. After installation you should caulk the bead-board to your counter for a complete seal. Use a paintable caulking.
