Should the wall edge of coving be the same colour as the wall or should it be the same colour as the ceiling? Having put up coving around a lounge I am debating how I should paint it.

Typically new painted trim details match the existing trim for color and sheen. Example- If your existing trim is white then simply paint the new trim white.
If the existing trim in your home isn't painted then matching the ceiling or some other prominent color is a good idea. The ceiling is always a prominent surface that is often a lighter color than the wall. Using this color will help tie the ceiling to the rest of a room.
