What's a good door color with a dark brown house?

share

Any ideas for trim and door colors on a large, dark brown stained colonial with a dark brown roof in a woody location. There are no shutters, but I am considering adding them.

  1. It is always a good and safe idea to consider white which always adds a nice balance with brown. Most people would agree on a nice balance between dark and light so consider that as an option.

  2. A nice, rich red would look fantastic with a dark brown house. It's a complimentary color and the door will stand out. If adding shutters, perhaps the same color of the house. Many people will paint the shutters the same color as the door but depending on the number of windows, and the color chosen, it may not look right if using red.
