I have 4.5 walls that have paneling on them. Do I need to fill the creases or can I paint right over it? Also what type of interior paint do I use for this?

First prime them with a Pigmented Shellac Sealer Primer, then caulk the joints where the panels butt up next to each other and putty or spackle any holes or other areas… the "decorative grooves" should be left as is and will certainly show when finished, this is acceptable… finally finish coat with a high quality interior paint, use acrylic (latex)… Good Luck!
