Where to end one color and begin another?

share

I recently moved and will be painting many rooms. I have high walls in the foyer that connect to the DR, LR and Family room. I’d like to use colors in all three rooms and a neutral in the main foyer. Where does the neutral end and the colors for other rooms begin if it is, somewhat, unclear to an semi-inexperienced painter?!

  1. If the foyer walls run into the other rooms then these walls need to be the same color, neutral. You could use the 'colors' as accents in the rooms or have the neutral walls act as accents for the colors.
